Our assignment was to make a concept for a wall, in a way so it could be modeled and textured without too much trouble. The concept had to contain 5 parts wich could be placed repeatedly into the design. As with any other design we started to sketch first (will be uploaded soon as I cannot get my hands on my sketches right now) and feel out the looks and atmosphere with a moodboard.

For my design I made two moodboards: One with general images (mostly by other artists) and one with pictures only. I decided to go with a chinese them with a bit of a fantasy element in it.

I started working on the general form of the 5 parts and the colorscheme of my design from a flat side vision and added 2 recurring 'guardians':

I started to make a composition of the parts to see how they would look like in a whole and made an impression of it:

I then started to draw out the different views of each part and drew the connections. I came up with a kind of a build plan and gave it a little chinese flavour:
